Bar Refrigeration Equipment Buying Guide

Bar Fridges

Every pub and bar needs specialist refrigeration equipment to keep the drinks at the correct temperature.  Your beer and white wine as well as cocktails should be served cold.  Before buying bar refrigeration it’s important to know exactly what you want to serve to your customers and to locate your compressor as it must not be covered.  At Alliance you will find everything you need to refrigerate your drinks effectively and attractively.

Which Refrigeration?

There are a number of different refrigerating units for beer and cold drinks and most come with additional components such as bottle openers and cap catchers for convenience:

  • Glass back bar coolers
  • Top loading coolers
  • Solid back coolers
  • Glass frosters
  • Wine chillers

Glass Back Bar Coolers

The glass back option allows your bottled beer/soft drinks/bottled cocktails to be clearly visible, great for visual appearance and for ease of use.  These refrigerators are suitable for cans as well as bottles and most have adjustable shelves so you can organise as suits you best.  Look for coolers with thermal doors or triple pane glass doors because these are solid enough to prevent cold air escaping from the refrigerator, they are also durable and strong which helps to avoid cracks and shattering.  There are plenty of options to suit your space, ranging from double doors, triple door coolers, single door upright, double door upright and short single door coolers.

Top Loading Coolers

These types of refrigeration units are excellent for establishments that serve large amounts of beer and drinks bottled or canned.  The top of these refrigerators have easy to use sliding doors and is normally made out of stainless steel, acting as an extra counter when needed.  These are available in one or two door styles so to determine what will work for you, consider your space and how much beer you sell.

Solid Back Bar Coolers

Solid back bar coolers are useful to keep behind the scenes for extra storage; they keep bottles out of view.  One of the biggest benefits of solid back coolers is that they are better equipped at keeping the cold air inside than the glass door varieties.

Glass Frosters

Especially designed for chilling glasses these refrigeration units are excellent for beers on tap, cold drinks on tap and are also effective when holding beer direct from bottles.  These units are also popular for outdoor use in the summer months because they are so effective at keeping drinks cold for a longer length of time.  The glass frosters come with adjustable shelving so you can organise the space inside as you see fit.  Perfect for almost every size of glass they are a bar and pub essential.  Do note that glasses need to be dry when placed inside the glass froster.

Wine Chillers

As everyone knows, to enjoy the magnificent flavours of white and rose wine it must be served chilled.  If you serve a good volume of wine it is wise to invest in a wine chiller as these are especially manufactured to hold wine alone at the right temperature giving you excellent storage.  It’s best to place wine in one of these specialist units as the temperature setting is different to other coolers and suited especially to wine.  There are plenty of size options available too, such as under bar, upright, horizontal, double doors and short sizes.
